Award Description: Fr. Pedro Arrupe was elected superior general of the Society of Jesus, the first Basque to occupy this position since the founder of the Jesuits, Ignatius of Loyola. In his address to Jesuit alumni in July 1973, Fr. Arrupe
called upon Jesuit schools to educate men and women to serve others, an ideal that now guides Jesuit schools across the world.
The purpose of this award is to recognize a student who exemplifies a commitment to service and promotion of justice for marginalized groups.
