Award Description: Matteo Ricci, S.J. was an Italian Jesuit priest, and one of the founding figures of the Jesuit China Mission. He was known for his appreciation of the Chinese culture by celebrating traditions and academic excellence in
the Jesuit way and served as a magnet that could draw people to God.
The purpose of this award is to recognize a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership on issues central to intercultural understanding by enhancing the campus climate surrounding the topics or race, ethnicity, gender
identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, culture, or disability to support a diverse campus community.
